Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a water filtration process where drinking water, containing undesirable dissolved solids, is run through a membrane. The water then goes to a storage tank while the unwanted inorganic compounds, sediment and other contaminants are flushed down the drain. This form of water treatment is one of the most effective methods for producing high quality drinking water. Generally, these filters involve the following stages:
Whole house water filters, otherwise known as Point-of-Entry (POE) systems are designed to filter the water in your entire home
by treating every drop of water as it enters. The systems typically compromise of multiple phases, e.g. one phase to soften the
water and another phase to remove chlorine and unpleasant tastes/odours.
Hardness is usually caused by calcium and/or magnesium and the ion exchange process of the softener media will remove it.
Chlorine is typically added to the water by the city treatment plants to kill bacteria and viruses. The granular active carbon
media will remove the chlorine by absorbing it as it enters your house.
